Plum Stew


2 lb (900 g) fresh plums
Optional: cup (170 g) sugar


1.   Rinse and pit the plums.

2.   Boil the plums in a small amount of water (the water should just cover them), stirring occasionally. After about two hours, sugar can be added for a sweeter taste.

3.   When most of the water has evaporated and the stew is thick, pour into glass jars and store in a cool place. For more flavour, you can stir in nutmeg, lemon juice or cinnamon near the end of cooking time.
